Biking Tours
Captivate the beauty of mountain and coastal biking
Independent and Self-Guided Biking
Below is a suggested cycling tour of East Cuba
The tour is designed for independent travelers or a group of friends. Our suggested journey starts in Havana where you can explore this historical and vibrant city before taking a flight to Bayamo in the East of Cuba. Next stop is at an ecological resort in the Sierra Maestra Mountains to capture the spirit of the early guerilla days of Fidel Castro and Che Guevara. Then travel down south to set off on an exciting coastal route. A rewarding beach break awaits you before going onto to Santiago de Cuba to enjoy some great music and nightlife. Your grand finale will be travelling to Baracoa where a real adventure awaits. Fly from Baracoa for the last night in Havana before your flight home.
We think our independent cycling holidays, going at your own pace, are the
best way to get a real experience of the country. Exploring by bike, you enjoy a relationship with the local people in a way that motorists never can.
When we put a Cuba Select Travel cycling tour together, warm, friendly hotels and authentic local cuisine are key ingredients. We offer whole panoply of interesting, hotels and breathtaking mountains and coastal rides. So no matter whether you are cycling through the timeless city of Havana, the ancient seaport of Santiago de Cuba or the Sierra Maestra Mountains with its magnificent views and natural beauty we’ve made sure you’ll see the undiscovered back roads of Cuba on a bike tour and still have the creature comforts at night.
Cycling gives the most scope for independent exploring, as you can adjust the route using our maps and detailed route notes. Our suggested routes take you along quiet country lanes, and go by the places we think are the most interesting. There are options for avoiding hills, and suggestions for detours and off-road explorations. All tours are graded starting with just enough exercise to work up an appetite for the next great meal, with more challenging route choices if you’re more energetic. None are extreme and each is designed to give you ample time to sightsee and get a genuine
experience of the culture, beauty and history of the places we go.
All of our cycling holidays are self-guided, independent tours. You can be as sociable, or otherwise, as you choose.
