Day 3: Havana – Las Terrazas Cycle to Las Terrazas Comunity
After breakfast in your Hotel we check out and set off by bike directly from the hotel. Our route today takes us West and finishes in the Biosphere Reserve of Las Terrazas, just 75 km from Havana. Once out of Havana, expect very little traffic, despite being a highway!
Reaching Mariel after about 35km from your hotel, we head inland taking backroads and the undulations (and potholes ! ) begin, as we cycle towards the Sierra del Rosario Mountain range. This impressive range of mountains forms part of the Guamuhaya range, which stretches across the Western part of Cuba and provides the spectacular tropical scenery for the next few days.
Today you’ll have a picnic lunch along the way somewhere. ON arrival in Las Terrazas Biosphere Reserve, cycle a further 8km to reach your hotel or continue to the Baños de San Juan where you can enjoy a swim in a crystal clear mountain river before heading back to the Hotel for check in and overnight.

Day 4: Backroad to Viñales Cycling Las Terrazas- San Diego
Las Terrazas – San Diego via the Skyline Trail (78km approximately if taken from Las Terrazas) Setting off early from Las Terrazas, enjoy riding the first through the hilly Biosphere Reserve. After about 20 km you reach the exit gate and continue cycling uphill for approximately 2km and until you reach a junction where you join the skyline road through the Guaniguanico Hills.
This will be certainly one of the most challenging and rewarding days cycling through the mountains on a rollercoaster road with spectacular views across the width of Cuba. On a clear day it may be possible to see both the Northern and the Southern Coastlines.
Once you descend from the Mountains and rejoin the main Havana – Pinar del Rio road, there will still be very little traffic. Expect to share the road with Vintage American cars, Chinese Bikes and horses and carts!
Finish the ride in San Diego de los Baños where you can enjoy a drink before transferring 1 ½ hours by bus to Viñales.
Ride Distance: 78 km

Dinner and Overnight Viñales Casa Particular (B,L,D)
Day 5: Viñales Cycling Viñales – Cayo Jutias
After breakfast in your Casa, we set off towards Rancho San Vicente and take the Puerto Esperanza road until we turn off towards Santa Lucia.
This is very rural Cuba and the road quality is quite poor but relatively flat and a change after yesterday’s undulations.
Our destination today is Cayo Jutias, a picture perfect beach which is reached by taking a causeway over the islets until you reach the beach. There is a simple restaurant on the beach where you can have lunch and change for a swim.
Either spend the afternoon at the beach or get back on the bike and return to Viñales via Minas de Matahambre and Pons.
Dinner tonight will be in an organic farm where local produce is used to cook delicious (and organic!) Creole food. Dinner Finca Wilfredo.

Cuba´s – and possibly the world´s - finest tobacco is grown here, we´ll make a stop to see how it´s grown in one of the farms nestling close to Viñales´ mogotes. Mogotes are unusually steep mountains rising sheer out of the valley floor, creating a spectacular lush landscape. After a picnic lunch we continue by bus to Havana and check into overnight
