A great festival of art and the cultural identity of the people will become the twenty-first FIART 2017 International Handicraft Fair, to be held in the Pabexpo venue in Havana, from 5 to 17 December. On this occasion, the event will be dedicated to the province of Santiago de Cuba and to glass work as an artistic manifestation.

This edition, which was recently presented by the Cuban Cultural Property Fund, will promote works in which the techniques and craft manifestations are present, as an expression of the identity and cultural tradition of the various regions of the world. Similarly, the event aims to highlight the role of crafts in the new scenarios of economic and social development.

The Fair will have multiple spaces for the promotion of works and for the necessary exchange of experiences between creators and their audience. In addition to the traditional expo-sale, theoretical meetings will be organized dedicated to various topics on the development of contemporary crafts.

FIART 2017 will be part of the celebrations of the Ibero-American Year of Handicrafts. Cuban and foreign artisans can participate, after presenting a sample of their works or projects in digital form or printed photograph. This will be an excellent opportunity to show the most representative of the Cuban manufactures, which show the original confluence of cultures that shaped the identity of the Greater Antilles, while bearing the imprint of the Caribbean.
