Day 1: Arrival to Havana
Met and assisted upon arrival at Havana airport. Transfer to your hotel in Old Havana. Check in at the hotel. Relax after your flight and enjoy some free time before the start of your program tomorrow. Accommodation at Hotel Plaza (Dinner included on property)
Day 2: Santa Clara
After breakfast served in the hotel, we leave for Sierra del Escambray. On the way there, we stop at Santa Clara and pay a visit to the Mausoleum of Che Guevara and the Tren Blindado. Later on we stop for a lunch-break (included), and after we reach our hotel Hanabanilla. After dinner at the hotel, we suggest a relaxing walk along the lake Lago Hanabanilla. Accommodation at Hotel Hanabanilla (Meals included: Breakfast in Hotel Plaza, Lunch on the way to Santa Clara and Dinner in Hotel Hanabanilla)
Day 3: Camping in Nature
After breakfast at the hotel, we go for a boat-ride on the lake Hanabanilla all the way to the Sierra de Jibacoa. From here, we will start the first hiking tour including a picnic break near the Salto de Rocio waterfalls. In the afternoon, we shall arrive at Hacienda La Gallega where we can set up a camp and enjoy our dinner around the camp fire. We will spend the overnight in tents. Accommodation at Parque Guanayara (Meals included: Breakfast in Hotel Hanabanilla, Picnic Lunch and Dinner in Parque Guanayara)
Day 4: Finca Codina
After breakfast, we start again on our next tour to the Finca Codina - a former coffee plantation. On the way, we stop for a picnic lunch-break. Dinner and accommodation in the tents at the Finca Codina. Accommodation at Parque Codina (Meals included: Breakfast in Parque Guanayara, Picnic Lunch and Dinner in Finca Codina) Day 5: Sierra del Escambray Today´s tour will take us through the southern part of the Sierra del Escambray all the way to Topes de Collantes. On route we will stop for lunch at Salto de Caburni. After lunch we continue our tour on the Vegas Grande pathway. Accommodation at Los Helechos (Meals included: Breakfast in Finca Codina, Lunch at Salto de Caburni and Dinner in Los Helechos)
Day 6: Camping in Nature
After breakfast, we board an Old Russian lorry and travel towards the landscapes of La Curva de Juana. From here, we continue to Parque El Cubano where we stop for lunch. In this area, we will have enough time to explore little pathways, and dip into the natural basins, common for this kind of habitat. In the evening we will set up a camp in time for dinner, and spend the overnight in tents at La Hacienda El Cubano. Accommodation at Parque El Cubano (Meals included: Breakfast in Los Helechos, Lunch in Parque El Cubano and Dinner in El Cubano)
Day 7: Boat Trip
In the morning, our bus transport will take us to the pier of Playa Ancon located near Trinidad city. There, we board the boat to Cayo Iguanas and Cayo Macho de Afuera. Picnic lunch will be served on the boat. Once we arrive to our destination, we will have enough time for snorkeling and bathing, or just relaxing on the beach. Accommodation at Hotel Costa Sur (Meals included: Breakfast in El Cubano. Lunch on boat. All inclusive at Hotel Costa Sur)
Day 8: Trinidad
In the morning, we head back to Playa Ancon, and go on a city tour in Trinidad. We will stop for lunch in Trinidad, and in the afternoon you have some free time to plan the rest of the sightseeing tour at your own disposal, exploring this charming little town. In the evening, a transfer will take us to a hotel where we will have dinner and stay for an overnight. Accommodation at Las Cuevas / Finca Ma Dolores (Meals included: Breakfast in hotel Costa Sur. Lunch in Trinidad. Dinner in Las Cuevas/Finca Ma Dolores)
Day 9: Sugar Cane Fields
After breakfast at the hotel, we leave for an excursion to the Valle de los Ingenios. There we shall visit the Manaca Iznaga ruin which used to be an old slaves´ tower, and learn a bit more about history of this region. Then, we walk across the sugar cane fields to a restaurant, where depending on the season; we might be able to taste local jugo de cañas (sugar cane juice) which is not included in the price). The bus will pick us up and take us to Sancti Spiritus for lunch, and a short city tour. In the late afternoon, we will return to Havana in time for dinner and our overnight accommodation. Day 10: Departure
Today is the last day of the program. Enjoy it at leisure before the transfer takes you to Havana airport in time for your flight back home, or to your next hotel depending on your holiday arrangements. International flights. Tourist Visa Card (obtainable from Cuban Consulate in your country, your airline, or your travel agent). Travel and medical insurance (medical insurance compulsory to enter Cuba). Where ‘Option’ or ‘Optional’ is mentioned in itinerary any costs are to be paid on the spot by the client. Any food and beverages not mentioned as included. Cuba Airport Departure Tax (25 CUC per person payable in cash on departure). Personal expenses. Accommodation: We pre-arrange all your accommodation. If hotels mentioned in the itinerary are fully booked when reservation is made, we reserve the right to book another accommodation of equivalent standard. Camping equipment mentioned in this itinerary is of a basic standard. Transfers: We arrange various transportation options such as cars or tour buses depending on numbers of persons travelling. Meals: The food and beverages mentioned are suggested options for you to pay on the spot unless they are specified as included in the itinerary. Tour Guides: Our professional tour guides speak Spanish, English and some other languages, they will accompany you throughout the program, should there be occasions where you wish to explore areas alone you can go without the tour guide who will give you directions and advice. Excursions: Depending on the particular excursion this can be a private excursion or a collective group excursion with other travelers. Clothing: As Cuba is a tropical island with an average temperature of 25°c light clothing is recommended. Wet wear is also recommended for inclement weather. Warm clothing is suggested if evenings are cooler. Sturdy shoes are recommended for walks and treks. Sandals for other times. Dress Code: Casual clothes during the day. Some restaurants and nightclubs at night require smart but casual dress, with no shorts, sandals or trainers. Medical: Medical insurance is compulsory to enter Cuba. There are good international clinics at the main tourist sites where you can obtain care and treatment and purchase medicines. For these services you will be expected to pay by cash or credit card and claim back from your insurance company. As not all medicines are available it is recommended that you bring your own medicines. Also, bring a high factor sun cream/spray and after-sun gel. Embassies/Consulates: Most countries have embassies and consulates in Havana. Mobile Phones: You can use you own mobile phone sim cards, however to phone home from Cuba can be expensive. If your sim card does not work in Cuba you can purchase a local sim card. Drinking Water: It is advised to drink only mineral water.
